Bamaya - Roots of Highlife
A tribute to Faisal Helwani - the indefatigable warrior for afrofusion. Bamaya can be found on the Roots of Highlife - From Bamaya to Bosoe compilation. For this collection, Faisal had the National Folkloric Company of The Arts Council of Ghana performing traditional folk musical forms, with the backing of his afrofusion out fit- Edikanfo.

Thanks for posting the Bamaya clip.
I have the Roots of Highlife compilation on a worn out, warped cassette tape, and I've been looking for a decent copy for years.
Could you perhaps point me in the right direction?

Man, I am late finding this blog but am looking for a digital copy of that album called "Roots of Highlife". I had a cassette verion which I dubbed from the actual LP back in 1998 from my university's library. Have never heard of that LP snce but it was gold! I figured with this recent resurgence in interest of Ghanaian popular music of old, this LP might surface, but not yet.
